Notice how these "war veterans" always seem to smell out the most valuable properties for "land redistribution". This is not about black empowerment - this is the flexing of Zanu PF election muscles and appearing to be doing something for the "peoples". There is plenty of land in Zimbabwe to give to his sheeple if he really wanted to but he always targets White-owned, successful ventures and no questions are asked. These tourism lodges and boat clubs will once again go to either Mugarbage himself, or to his cronies with a few "war" veterans thrown in for good measure. Yet more jobs will be lost and less people will visit. The shelves in Zimbabwe are already stocked with mostly South African products - Zimbabwe which was once the bread basket of the area is now a basketcase, with no production to speak of. But shhhhhhh, nothing to see here - move along UN....Harare - Tourism operators say militants of President Robert Mugabe's party launched raids on boating clubs and tourism lodges on the shores of Lake Chivero, the Zimbabwe capital's main fishing and leisure area.
Kuimba Shiri lodge owner Gary Stafford says his resort, popular with foreign tourists, diplomats and UN staff, reopened on Sunday after being sealed off by more than 200 militants since on Friday.
Stafford says militants took an inventory of the lodge's belongings and "there was no violence or looting". He says they told him they were evaluating properties under Mugabe's black empowerment drive for 51% control of businesses.
Boating clubs and a caravan park were also visited by militants, some armed with sticks and chanting slogans of Mugabe's party.
