2011 Ford Flex Review

Ford Motor Company training in modern American family journey by presenting the 2011 Ford Flex, a full-size crossover that sets a new standard for style, features, functionality and comfort in the hottest segment of the industry in the United States.

"The new Ford Flex crossover is a game changer. This is the first vehicle of its kind that combines seating for seven, interior space and surprising elements with a striking design that looks great on the road and the home for today's modern American families, "said Mark Fields, Ford Americas President, as revealed by the new vehicle in the Salon of 2007 New York International Auto. "The Flex builds on Ford's leadership in crossover, which is the stronger growth of the automotive market today."

On sale in summer 2008, the Flex is arriving as crosses continue to outpace even the remarkable growth of SUVs during the 1990s and minivans of the 1980s.

Last year, the crosses surpassed traditional SUV sales for the first time and they are oriented toward cross-selling annual 3 million units by the end of this decade. Such growth likely will make crossovers the first segment or second in the U.S.

"Flex is another example of Ford creating more products that customers really want," Fields said. "Ford intends to define crossover vehicles this decade, as we did SUVs in the 1999s."



The Flex joins the Edge and Taurus X crossover to the Ford range expansion. Ford's success with crossover utility vehicles are high. In March alone, sales from U.S. company increased crossing over 40 percent last year - led by the success of The Edge.

Redefining the Family Travel

Bold, expressive design and exclusive innovations define the new Flex.

"Ford Flex has the power to move people emotionally and physically," says J Mays, Ford group vice president of design and chief creative officer.

"This crossing has been created for people who know it is the journey - not the destination - which is more important," Mays said, "His touch vertically high design quality, versatility and enable intelligent. Ford Flex to stand out in a sea crossing increasingly crowded. "

The Ford Flex brings to production the Ford Fairlane concept vehicle that turned heads at the Salon of 2005 North American International Auto in Detroit.

Ford's exclusive second-generation gateway to the keyboard. Located inside the car in black B pillars, flat screen, backlit keypad eliminates the need for door-mounted buttons and gives customers the ability to unlock doors, disarm the alarm system and disable the lock function automatically by entering a five-digit code.

Travel calm, confident

Ford Flex chassis is designed to be capable, including more than 4,000 pounds of towing capacity, but still produces a quiet ride are sure that crossover customers demand.

"A quiet ride is no longer a luxury," said Gary Boes, Flex chief engineer. "This is something that customers have come to expect from their vehicles and equate with quality. Flex was designed from the beginning with the noise, reduced vibration and harshness in mind."

Technical improvements include a new independent rear suspension (IRS) with unique geometry that allows for better tuning to deliver a broad range of functionality without compromising the interior package. Interior noise was minimized by using sound-absorbing materials for the dashboard, headliner, and carpet throughout.



Moreover, a windscreen of 6 mm thick reduces wind noise and powertrain, while specially selected tires make road noise nearly unnoticeable.

Powerful V-6 with AWD

Flex is powered by award-winning 3.5-liter Ford V-6 is mated to a 6-speed transmission. The powertrain is expected to produce over 260 horsepower and 245 lb-ft of torque and fuel economy.

Flex is available intelligent all-wheel-drive system is calibrated to provide safe driving in all weather conditions. Intelligent AWD uses an active, on-demand electronic switch center to share the exact amount of torque from front to rear - up to 100 percent of both the tree. Families demand safety
