I sit in Australia and wonder what would happen were this crime to happen here? My guess would be that the crime would make headlines on all the News channels immediately and the criminals would be behind bars within 24 hours. That's the difference between South Africa and Australia - Australians don't tolerate criminals very well. Their police force is proud of their record to solve crimes as quickly and thoroughly as possible. Back to South Africa, and this unfortunate farmer - a man of 49 years - was probably tortured before being shot multiple times. His body (he may have still been alive) was then tied to the back of his bakkie (ute) and dragged about 1.2km, before his dumb-ass murderers rolled the vehicle. Why would they do this to another human being? Because of their low IQs and their Black culture. This is the same Black culture that will kill a bull with their bare hands - by tying any body part on the animal that is long enough (tongue, penis etc) and smothering it with sand until it dies the most agonising death. If they can treat animals like that then how do you expect them to treat human beings? If they can gang-rape a 6-month old baby, then how do you think they will treat others? If they can hack body parts of their fellow Blacks - whilst still alive - for muti, witchcraft and potions, then how do you think they'll treat another human being? To all my foreign readers who ever wondered why Apartheid was implemented in 1948 - it was to keep decent law-abiding, God-fearing people separate from the Black-Africans barbaric nature. It takes articles like this to remind us that you can take a monkey out of the bush and dress him up.....
Johannesburg - The Freedom Front Plus on Sunday afternoon identified the farmer who was murdered and his body dragged behind his bakkie (van/ute) outside Ottosdal on Saturday night, as 49-year-old Andre van der Merwe.
The FF Plus expressed shock at the cruelty of the murder and said the government should help ensure the safety of farming communities.
"The government and minister of police are slow to act against farm attackers, and the rural safety plan still exists only in theory," FF+ MP Pieter Groenewald said in a statement.
The police's Brigadier Thulani Ngubane earlier said that three suspects had entered Van der Merwe's house at about 20:00.
"They held him at gunpoint while they ransacked the house for money," he said on Sunday.
"They shot him in the chest, the back, and in the head, then used [the farmer's] bakkie to drag him for about 1.2km before the bakkie rolled."
According to Ngubane his body was still tied to the Toyota LDV when police arrived on the scene on the Ottosdal-Delareyville road.
One of the alleged murderers was arrested there and led police to his two accomplices. It was suspected that some cattle may have been stolen in the attack.
Ngubane said although the brutality of the attack might suggest an "ulterior motive", possibly related to "previous issues with the farmer", he could not confirm whether the suspects were known to Van der Merwe, who lived alone.
"This will all form part of the investigation and it is too early to speculate at the moment."
Cases of murder, house robbery, theft of motor vehicle, stock theft and illegal firearm possession had been opened against the three arrested men. They would appear in court on Tuesday.
