In case no one has heard, Cyclone Yasi (category 5) is due to hit the East Coast of North Queensland tonight/early tomorrow morning. The picture below shows you just how big this monster is - the East coast is the white line left of the picture. If you would like to track it here is a cool website. The eye of the cyclone has been measured at 100km - the entire cyclone is over 500km in breadth. The cyclone has been superimposed onto the American map (picture 2) so that you can get an idea of just how enormous it is. The region to be hit is near Cairns and a mass evacuation has been undertaken to get those who want to, out safely. Our thoughts and prayers are with Queensland as they are once again battered by nature.
