2010 Ford Taurus inspired by Citizen Cope and Paul Oakenfold

If you're a fan of soul-rocker Citizen Cope, chances are you might enjoy the redesigned 2010 Ford Taurus. Same goes for Paul Oakenfold, Alicia Keys, Kem, and Anthony Hamilton -- all musicians who Ford designers credit for inspiring the family sedan's new look.

According to Taurus designer Earl Lucas, designers usually listen to music while sketching. "You just feel more creative," he said. "The better the music, the more inspired the designer is when coming up with shapes." If that's true, the Five Hundred must have been drawn up in an elevator.

Luckily for the new Taurus, this time the iPods in Dearborn were cranking out everything from neo-soul to trance to straight-up adult contemporary -- music that's fresh and diverse, yet still accessible. "We know the Taurus has to speak to a diverse group of people, so we chose artists who do the same with their songs," Lucas said. "The new car is more upscale and sporty, but it’s also subtle and can be appreciated and desired without being in your face."
