2010 Lotus Elise and 2010 Lotus Exige: Lower Emissions, Better Fuel Economy

Lotus have decided that they would like to improve the eco-ness of the Exige and Elise models. By doing this Lotus have had to perform various upgrades to both of the cars, in the form of powertrain and aerodynamic tweaks.


It was reported that the Elise and Exige will now feature a 9% reduction in CO2 emission and a similar increase in fuel economy. According to the press release there will be a 0.7 litre per 100km fuel efficiency improvement on the Elise S, which brings the combined total down to 7.6 litres per 100km.

Mike Kimberley, CEO of Group Lotus plc, stated, “The Lotus philosophy of performance through light weight is even more relevant in today’s emission focused ecological world. This design philosophy has enabled Lotus to offer fantastic levels of performance, with Lotus cars being some of the greenest performance cars on the market”.
